Susanna's Kitchen presents Jill Jones and Three Hands High
After 27 years in Wimberley, Jill Jones is widely known as the lady who yodels. She began playing cowboy music with The Hays County Gals, a trio of women who all happened to have small children at the time. They entertained at schools and churches all over Hays County. Years later, the group morphed into The Lone Star Chorale and traveled the country performing at Cowboy Gatherings. They were featured on Prairie Home Companion, Texas County Reporter and won numerous awards for excellence from the Academy of Western Artists, specifically Band of the Year and Yodeler of the Year. For the past four years, Jill has been featured in a play called "A Ride With Bob" with Ray Benson and Asleep At the Wheel. Presently, she is very proud to be playing with the Rogers in a group they call Three Hands High. Their music is a blend of bluegrass, swing, western, gospel and otherwise, just plain good music. Their searing three part harmony will part your hair right down the middle.
Elliott Rogers - guitar, vocals. Elliott was born in Osceola, Arkansas and grew up in Albuquerque NM. He fell in love with bluegrass music at an early age by hearing local bands like the Big River Boys and the Clear Ditch Ramblers. His trio in High School opened for Doc Watson. “That was a mighty big deal for me and pointed me in the direction I took with music.” That path led Elliott to Austin Texas after a hitch in the Army at FT Hood. There he worked for years with songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, George Ensle and Blaze Foley, and recorded with Lyle Lovett , Nancy Griffith and Robert Earl Keen on Roberts first album, ‘No Kinda Dancer’.
Janice Rogers-Vocal, Bass. Janice began her musical career as a singer in the church in White Deer Texas. She was a natural harmony singer and has become a rock solid bass player as well. She has performed at countless Bluegrass festivals and taught vocal workshops. She has MC'd several festivals. Whether recording or performing live, she is a true professional.
