Reverend Wes Cain
Rev. Wes Cain is a product of God's amazing grace and work within the United Methodist Church. Born and baptized in Burnet, he has deep roots both to the Texas Hill Country and what is now the Rio Texas Annual Conference.
Wes attended college at Texas Lutheran University. There he graduated Summa Cum Laude in December of 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology with a Minor in Biblical Greek and, more importantly, met and married the love of his life, Jessica. Wes then attended Princeton Theological Seminary, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master's of Divinity. The emphasis of his learning was on ministry to young adults/young families and creative preaching.
Wes has pastored a number of churches in a variety of capacities both here in Texas and in New Jersey. His experience includes ministering to college students, prison inmates and correction officers, youth, and the local church.
Wes and Jess are blessed with three children, James, Joseph, and Rebekah. The family loves going on walks through town together and spending time playing in the water.
Karla Cruz has been directing middle and high school choirs in Texas for over twenty-five years, and is currently choir director at Canyon High School in New Braunfels/Comal ISD. Karla has served on the music staff at Park Hills, Bannockburn, and Covenant United Methodist churches in Austin and is currently leading the choir at WUMC. Karla is a graduate of SWT (now TSU) in San Marcos, where she received a music ed. degree with an emphasis in piano. Karla also performs frequently with her husband, guitarist Mark Anthony Cruz.
Children's Ministry Director
Courtenay has previously been involved with our Bright Beginnings Preschool program, and we are excited that she is now our Director of Children's Ministries. Courtenay, along with her husband, John, and 2 boys, moved from Northern California to Texas in 2008, and then made the fabulous decision to settle in Wimberley in 2009. She is looking forward to connecting with families and growing our children's ministry.
Jordan graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Youth and Family Ministries. She has a passion for Jesus and a love for students. Jordan is so excited to see all that God is doing at WUMC! Jordan currently lives in San Marcos with her husband, Tyler, and sweet hound dog, Bellatrix.
Bright Beginnings Director
Matilda is a strong positive influence that equips our children with the knowledge of God's unconditional love, a gift that will last from infancy to adulthood.
Carol's office and organizational skills keep WUMC running like a well-oiled machine. Carol attends the main church telephone, maintains the church calendar and oversees the timely production of printed materials such as the church bulletins.
