Great food! Delicious pies, tamales, pizza, coffee, and soft drinks available. Doors open by 7:00 pm. Concerts start at 7:30 pm and are held in the Fellowship Hall at Wimberley United Methodist Church.

Great Cause! We all benefit – those who come to hear the best music in Wimberley, those who have a great time volunteering their talents to produce the concerts, and the people who are helped by our donations. Mark your calendars for every Third Thursday year round.

Tickets are sold ONLY AT THE DOOR. Tickets range in price from $20-$25 depending on the musician. Cash and checks are currently accepted. Students under 18 are $5.  Concerts are not appropriate for small children, as there is no childcare.

Dana Cooper
November 20, 2025

"Dana has a poet's eye for beauty & detail, a blue's man's soul, and a songbird's gift.

He is remarkable."

~Hayes Carll

Cooper’s lifelong passion & devotion to music began at age 2 in Kansas City. His father, George, was a huge influence. One of Dana's earliest memories is of his father taking him to the Calico Cat, popping a coin in the jukebox and listening to Dana sing along with Hank Williams & Ernest Tubb.

At age 20 a move to LA resulted in a record deal with Elektra Records where he recorded his first album with members of “The Section” Russ Kunkel and Leleand Sklar, as well as other luminary players Jim Horn, Al Perkins, Jim Gordon, Joe Osborne, and Lee Holdridge. This album still wins accolades today and was recently reissued on the Warner/Japan label.

After several years in California and a year recording in Seattle, Cooper moved to Texas where he wrote and performed with Shake Russell. They released several independent albums and one album for Southcoast/MCA.

Dana formed his own experimental bands, DC3, and Nuclear Family and released his first solo project Complicated Stuff. In 1988 he moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his songwriting career collaborating with numerous other songwriters, including Allen Shamblin, Don Henry, Pat Alger, Kim Carnes, Hal Ketchum, and Pierce Pettis.

Dana’s years as a troubadour is measured by his impressive 32 albums and collection of accolades, the 2014 Heritage Musician Award, the 2015 Spirit of Folk Award from Folk Alliance International, and the Best Male Songwriter Award from the Indie Acoustic Project, as well as a nomination for Best Pop Album for Miracle Mile (1997) for the  Nashville Music Awards.

Cooper’s songs have been recorded by a variety of artists such as bluegrass singer Claire Lynch, Irish vocalist Maura O’Connell, Nashville songbird Jonell Mosser, as well as songwriters Pierce Pettis and Susan Werner. His incredible catalogue and musical sensibilities have led to endorsements from AirPlay Direct and Elixir Strings. He’s been described as a songwriter’s songwriter, and Jim Hynes of Glide Magazine said of him, "He leaves us thinking, as only the best songwriters do."

Over his 50+ year career, Cooper has amassed a catalog of 30+ albums and continues to tour actively. He released his 32nd studio album, The Ghost of Tucumcari, in 2024. Featuring an All-Star lineup of guest artists, the album marks a major achievement for the veteran musician. Artists lending their voices to that project included Lyle Lovett, Hayes Carll, Susan Gibson, Mando Saenz, Darden Smith, Shake Russell, Libby Koch and more.

Don’t miss Dana Cooper in concert Thursday, November 20 at Susanna’s Kitchen, at Wimberley United Methodist Church (County Road 1492 at Ranch Road 12). Concert starts at 7:30, doors open by 7:00. Join us for coffee, soft drinks, tamales, pizza, and pies! Tickets for sale at door (cash or checks only), adults $25, students 18 and under $5.
