Compassion to Action
Serving with Love and Purpose
Missions & Outreach
Together, we strive to:
-
Serve Locally: We respond to the needs in our own backyard—through food drives, clothing ministries, shelter support, school partnerships, and care for our neighbors experiencing hardship.
-
Build Relationships: We believe outreach is more than charity—it's about connection. We seek to form meaningful, respectful relationships with those we serve and with one another.
-
Stand for Justice: We work to not only meet immediate needs but also challenge the root causes of poverty, inequality, and injustice—guided by our Christian values.
-
Invite Participation: Every gift, every helping hand, and every prayer matters. Whether you volunteer your time, offer your resources, or simply show up with a willing heart, there's a place for you.
At Wimberley UMC, we believe that our faith calls us to make a difference—right here in our community and around the world. Our Missions and Outreach Program is how we live out Jesus’ command to love our neighbors, serve those in need, and be a light in the world.

Our mission is simple: to love God and love others—compassion to action. Through our Missions and Outreach Program, we invite you to be part of something bigger than any one of us—a movement of hope, healing, and compassion.

Get Involved
We conduct various community outreach programs to connect with local organizations and support those in need. Our services include volunteer opportunities tied to essential needs in Wimberley and surrounding areas.

Local Missions
Barnabas Connection
We support Barnabas Connection’s mission to connect people to resources and offer compassionate support for those facing financial hardship, housing insecurity, or other challenges. Through volunteerism and financial assistance, we help provide back-to-school supplies, emergency aid, and advocacy services.
Southside Community Center

In partnership with Southside, we join in their commitment to serving low-income and unhoused individuals through meals, shelter, and home repair programs. Our church volunteers regularly to prepare and serve meals and assist with local mission projects to restore dignity and stability for our neighbors.
Hays/Caldwell Women's Center
We stand alongside HCWC in their vital work to provide safety, shelter, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse. Our support includes donations of essential supplies, awareness efforts, and connecting survivors to the resources they need for healing and empowerment.

Hays County Homeless Coalition
Wimberley UMC is proud to be a participating member in the Hays County Homeless Coalition which brings together churches, nonprofits, agencies, and individuals who are dedicated to ending homelessness in our area through collaboration, advocacy, and direct support. As a church partner, we contribute by participating in awareness events like the annual Point-in-Time Count and Poverty Simulations, which helps identify local needs and shape solutions. We also advocate for long-term solutions, including affordable housing, mental health services, and supportive case management.

Food Ministries
Our Food Ministry is committed to fighting hunger and serving our neighbors with dignity and compassion. In partnership with Crisis Bread Basket and the Hays County Food Bank, we help provide essential groceries and meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community. Through donations, volunteer service, and advocacy, we share the love of Christ by ensuring that no one has to go without the nourishment they need.

Best Buds - Wimberley ISD
Are you looking for a meaningful way to support students in our community? Consider becoming a Best Bud with Wimberley ISD!
The Best Buds Program connects caring adult volunteers with students who could benefit from a little extra encouragement, friendship, and positive connection during the school day. Whether it’s sharing lunch, reading a book together, or simply being a consistent, supportive presence—your time could have a lasting impact.

Global Missions
Mission Border Hope
We proudly support Mission Border Hope, a United Methodist ministry based in Eagle Pass, Texas, serving migrant families and individuals at the U.S.-Mexico border. We support just and compassionate immigration policies, provide resources and assistance to immigration families and raise awareness about the challenges they face. Currently we help donate and deliver clean clothing for asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants.

Manos Juntas
Through our connection with UMC Manos Juntas in Mexico, we are blessed to participate in cross-cultural ministry that reflects our shared faith, mutual care, and commitment to transformation through love and service.
Our partnership includes:
-
Sending mission teams to serve alongside the local church in worship, construction, education, and outreach
-
Sharing resources, prayers, and encouragement between our congregations
-
Building relationships

Community Outreach
Where Music Feeds the Soul—and Compassion Feeds the Community
Susanna’s Kitchen is a beloved ministry of Wimberley United Methodist Church, where the community comes together for the love of music, mission, and one another. Established as both a concert series and a charitable outreach, Susanna’s Kitchen brings top-quality live music to the heart of Wimberley—while supporting local and regional organizations that serve people in need.
Want to get involved? We are always in need of volunteers to help set up, take down and sell refreshments.
Baker's Dozen / Market Days
Our Baker’s Dozen Group is a sweet expression of faith, fellowship, and service. We come together to bake homemade goods — pies, cookies, breads, and more — to sell at our church booth at Wimberley Market Days. All proceeds go toward supporting local missions, community outreach, and church ministries.
This isn’t just about baking — it’s about sharing love and hospitality with our neighbors, one treat at a time. Whether you’re a seasoned baker, a packaging pro, or just love to lend a hand, there’s a place for you in the Baker’s Dozen.
We’re always looking for more helping hands and creative ideas! Join us in spreading joy and making a difference at Market Days — all while doing something deliciously meaningful.

Wimberley UMC Bird Blind

Hays County Birding project is a countywide conservation and birdwatching initiative led by the Hays County Master Naturalists aimed at creating a sustainable and connected birding environment across Hays County—transforming underused public spaces into inviting bird habitat and observation sites. Thanks to our Green Team, Wimberley UMC is a part of this initiative with its own bird viewing station, helping to grow a connected network that enriches both wildlife and people throughout the region.
