In the beginning...
Wimberley United Methodist Church first offered a two-days-a-week Mother's Day Out program in 1986. In 1999, Wimberley UMC Mother's Day Out program officially became a Licensed Child Care Program. As enrollment grew, parents in the community requested extended care hours to meet their needs and we extended our care hours to 5pm. Many WISD staff needed to drop off at an early hour, so we also began offering early care to meet that need. By 2018 we had grown by leaps and bounds and WUMC Mother's Day Out changed its name to Bright Beginnings Preschool. As our Wimberley community has grown, so have the needs of the community. Since 2018, we have also offered a summer day camp program for elementary students through fifth grade.
Our curriculum and teaching philosophy...
We believe in small student/teacher ratios, not the 20+ students to 1 teacher at most public schools.
Bright Beginnings Preschool's ratios:
Class 1/Infant room – 3 teachers/maximum 10 infants.
Class 2 – 1 teacher and 1 aide/maximum 12 toddlers.
Class 3 – 1 teacher and 1 aide/maximum 12 toddlers.
Class 4 – 1 teacher and 1 aide/maximum 14 three-year-olds.
Class 5 – 1 teacher and 1 aide/maximum 14 four/five-year-olds.
*These are maximums; often, our classes are smaller.

We believe in meeting each child where they’re at in their developmental journey.

We believe in lovingly supporting and encouraging children in each new step of their individual journey.

We believe children learn in many ways:
through playing, interacting
with their peers, participating
in group activities, engaging
in teacher-led lessons,
exploring their environment,
and making discoveries born
of natural curiosity.
We support and encourage ALL
of these at Bright Beginnings
Preschool!

Every day, our teachers lead age-appropriate, fun activities with the goal of nurturing each child’s unique physical, social-emotional, spiritual, language, reasoning, large- and small-motor, and sensory development.

Our days are full and fun!

A typical day includes art activities, playground time, story and share time, sensory experiences, singing, dancing, free play, science and nature discoveries, snacks, lunch, and nap time.

Our Pre-K class also
has dedicated time for
phonics, writing
(utilizing the Handwriting-
Without-Tears method),
and foundational
number concepts.

Once a week, all classes attend chapel with WUMC’s Director of Family Ministry, Courtenay Kehl. We learn about God’s amazing creations and unfailing love for us while singing, dancing, and sharing our joy with one another.
